Patiala police crack robbery case; 3 burglars held with stolen gold and silver worth Rs 1 crore

PATIALA: Three burglars involved in a theft at the residence of a Patiala goldsmith have been apprehended by the Patiala police, around two weeks after the incident. The police reported the recovery of stolen gold and silver, totaling 143 Tolas of gold and 103 Tolas of silver, from the accused individuals.Varun Sharma, SSP Patiala, revealed that the theft occurred at the home of Bhupinder Singh, a local goldsmith.Following the incident, a case was registered on November 17 under IPC sections 457 and 380 against unidentified culprits, leading to a thorough investigation."With the help of CCTV cameras and a comprehensive inquiry, our police team, under the supervision of Sarfaraz Alam, identified and arrested three accused involved in the theft. The recovered gold and silver are estimated to be worth Rs one crore in the market," stated SSP Varun Sharma.The theft transpired at Bhupinder Singhs residence while he was away. Upon his return, he discovered that the locks of his house and almirah were broken, and gold and silver ornaments had been stolen. The arrested individuals, Aditya Bihar (21), Raja (24), and his wife Anjali (24), are now in police custody. Aditya was apprehended near the Sirhind canal bridge, with 868 grams of gold and 418 grams of silver recovered from him. Raja was arrested at Rajpura Chowk, and 542 grams of gold and 615 grams of silver were seized. Anjali was nabbed at Rajpura Chowk, and 25 grams of gold were recovered from her. The police noted that Aditya and Raja had previous criminal cases related to illegal liquor supply and thefts.
