  • | Friday | 8th December, 2023

BATHINDA: Over 550 nursing staff at AIIMS Bathinda have gone on strike, partially affecting health services. The nurses are demanding promotions and adherence to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare guidelines, which allow them 96 holidays a year. Despite wearing black badges in a token strike on November 25, the nursing staff received no response from authorities. The strike, initiated on December 6, has impacted outdoor and indoor services, while emergency and ICU services remain operational. The management has assigned junior doctors and nursing students to fill in for the striking staff. The dispute centers around recruitment policies formulated by the Indian government, with legal challenges pending.
