Shahjahanpur: In a shocking discovery, a doctor examining a 5-year-old girl found that she was actually raped, due to which she got infection and fell ill. Her mother had brought her to the district hospital for treatment in Shahjahanpur city on Sunday after the girl had been unwell for three months and had not improved.“The girl’s private parts had been infected, and she was being treated by a local doctor at her village, but she was not getting better. Her mother then brought her to the district hospital, where the doctor found severe tears on her privates. The doctor quickly realized someone had raped the child,” said station officer of Chowk police station Ashok Pal.The doctor and the mother then talked to the girl, who said that a local youth had taken her to an orchard near her village three months ago and assaulted her, and that he had done it several times afterwards.“An FIR under sections related to rape in the IPC and POCSO Act was registered against the neighbour, Vipin Verma, 18, on the complaint of the girl’s mother. Verma was arrested soon after. We have completed the medical test of the girl and will receive the reports soon. Verma confessed that he had raped the girl multiple times and had given her sweets and chocolate and told her not to complain to her parents. He has been sent to district jail,” Pal added.“My daughter used to complain about pain in her private parts and was unwell for the past three months. I never imagined that anybody could have sexually assaulted such a small child,” said the girl’s mother.Additional superintendent of police (city) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi told TOI, “It was a serious issue and we immediately took action against the culprit. The girl is also getting medical treatment and recovering from the trauma she had suffered for the past three months. We will ensure strict action against the accused.”
