80-year-old historysheeter on the run for 11 years held

BAREILLY: Bareilly police arrested an eighty-year-old criminal, Puran alias Mota , who carried a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head on Saturday from Anguri Road near Maheshpura village under Subhashnagar police station. After the incident, I caught a train without informing my family and reached Amritsar. I worked as a labourer there.”

BAREILLY: Bareilly police arrested an eighty-year-old criminal, Puran alias Mota , who carried a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head on Saturday from Anguri Road near Maheshpura village under Subhashnagar police station. Police said he was wanted in connection with several cases, including murder and dacoity.A native of Shivnagar village under Cantonment police station. Puran was absconding for the past 11 years and hiding in Amritsar in Punjab.Inspector of crime branch, Krishna Murari, said, “After receiving information about the location of Puran, we nabbed him and recovered .315 bore countrymade pistol and two live cartridges from him. Though Bareilly police team has been searching for him for the past several years, he was hiding at Dhelma village in Amritsar. He came to Bareilly to meet his daughter Lilawati, a native of Biriya Narayanpur village under Subhashnagar police station.”Subhashnagar station house officer Sanjeev Kumar said, “Several cases of murder, dacoity, attempt to murder, robbery besides cases under Gangster Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Arms Act are lodged at three different police stations — Cantonment and Basharatganj in Bareilly and Binawar in Badaun.”Puran told TOI, “In 2007, I was gambling with my friends near my village when during an argument, I beat one Rooplal to death. After the incident, I caught a train without informing my family and reached Amritsar. I worked as a labourer there.”
