Nepalese teen electrocuted, hurt while taking selfie atop train

Bareilly: A 17-year-old boy, Sijan Rawal, from Nepal climbed atop a train at Bareilly Junction to click a selfie at around 1 am on Sunday. He then climbed a train which had stopped for some time and started taking a selfie with his selfie-stick. Government Railway Police (GRP) took the boy to district hospital and his condition is serious. Rawal along with three friends had come to Bareilly by bus to spend their holidays.Rawal’s friend Amit Singh, 18, said, “On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, we were waiting at Bareilly Junction to catch a train to Moradabad. Rawal suggested to us that we should click a group selfie for timepass. He then climbed a train which had stopped for some time and started taking a selfie with his selfie-stick. In the process, his selfie-stick came in contact with a high tension wire and he got electric shock and fell from the coach.’’Inspector Vijay Kumar of GRP said, “An accident happened at around 1 am at platform number 1. As soon as we learnt about the incident, we reached the spot and sent the boy to district hospital.”Dr M P Singh, general surgeon at district hospital said, “Rawal has sustained 45% burn injuries. He sustained burns on his hands, legs and chest. He is under treatment and will recover in 10 to 15 days.”Amit said, “On Saturday, Rawal, Rohan, 18, Sameer, 19, and I left our Tikapur village in Nepal and reached Bareilly by bus. We had recently given our high school board exams and decided to spend three months’ summer holidays at the house of Rawal’s uncle Depender Bhun who works in a Moradabad private hotel as assistant manager.”
