Woman commits suicide over land dispute

Pilibhit: A 32-year-old woman drank poison and died on Tuesday due to alleged torture from her in-laws over a land dispute in village Ruria Salempur. The couple has two daughters aged 9 and 2 years, respectively, and a son aged around 6 years. “The accused are absconding, but we will catch them soon”, he said.Rajiv married Somwati 12 years ago. The allegation was made by the deceased’s husband, blaming his elder brother for forcing his wife to take the extreme step.Station house officer of Puranpur Kotwali police station Yogendra Sharma said victim Somwati committed suicide by drinking pesticide. He said they have been facing financial difficulties for some time and the money earned by him was insufficient to run his family.SHO Sharma said an FIR has been lodged against Ramesh Singh, Angoori Devi and Puran Singh under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of IPC following a written complaint by the deceased’s husband.
