Pilibhit: A 45-year-old woman was mowed down by a speeding truck on Madhotanda-Khatema road near Chokhmadhi under Mathotanda police station on Thursday morning.Police said the victim, Girija Devi, a resident of Khatema in Uttarakhand’s Udhamsingh Nagar district, was waving hands at the driver for lift to return her hometown when the accident took place. She had come to her parental home in Jamunia Khas village a few days back.The body has been sent for autopsy.Madhotanda police station SHO Indra Singh said the truck was impounded, and the driver, Mohammad Salman, of Dunka village, was arrested.A FIR was registered against the driver under section 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash or negligent driving on public way in a manner to endanger human life) of IPC, said SHO.
