SHAHJAHANPUR: Additional chief conservator of forests Abhinandan Kumar Jain died in a road accident on NH-24 in Shahjahanpur on Wednesday morning. The other two people in the SUV sustained multiple injuries and were admitted to the district hospital.Meanwhile, the deceased’s younger brother, Vivek Jain, alleged that it was a planned murder. He argued that while the two front seat passengers survived, his brother, who was sitting in the backseat, died in the accident. “Jain was an IFS officer of 1986 batch and was known for his bold actions. His name was excluded from the recently released promotion list for no reason and he was planning to approach court. His sudden death is really a shock for IFS community as he was always very honest towards his work,” said an IFS officer who did not wish to be named.Additional SP (rural) SC Shakya told TOI, “The accident took place near Swagat restaurant at Nagaria Mod around 6.30am. The driver probably fell asleep for a split second after which the SUV hit a divider and finally crashed into a tanker. Jain’s driver Mohammed Nazim and assistant Sandeep Kumar received injuries, while the IFS officer himself died of a severe head injury. We have seized the tanker and have arrested its driver as well.”When TOI asked about the allegations made by the younger brother of the deceased, Shakya said, “We have not received any written complaint so far. However, we have got postmortem done under proper videography and if anything suspicious comes up, i we would definitely take necessary action.”
