Bareilly: Taking a serious view of inconvenience caused to people and commuters during protest marches by various organisations and unions, the Bareilly district administration has marked Damodar Park near Chowki Chauraha as the place for carrying out such activities. The administration has also warned of strict action if protesters flout the order.Apart from fixing Damodar Park here, additional district magistrate (city) OP Verma has also instructed all six sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) in the district to identify a specific site in their respective sub-divisions for staging dharna.The move came following an instruction issued by Uttar Pradesh home secretary Arvind Kumar.Meanwhile, police officers have also been instructed to ensure that all agitations and sit-ins are carried out only at the designated places identified by the administration. ADM said, “Now on, strict action will be taken against those who carry out protest outside the collectorate or disturb law and order situation in the city.”“Due to agitation and protest march carried out by various social and political outfits, public have to face lot of inconvenience, especially those who come to collectorate and court for important work. So, it is a good move by the government. In Delhi, all agitators assemble at Jantar Mantar to raise their demands,” he said.Similarly, Mills society ground in Baheri Kesar, fair-ground at Banaiya village in Meerganj, Rainbasera ground in Aonla, Old SDM office in Faridpur and Chetram Park in Nawabganj tehsil have been finalised by the SDMs concerned as places for demonstration and dharna.
