Robbers target passengers on Chandigarh-bound train

The incident was reported around 1.20am from Garrah halt which is at a distance of one kilometer from Shahjahanpur railway station. Shahjahanpur: Four unidentified robbers stole valuables from passengers on board Lucknow-Chandigarh Express soon after it departed from Shahjahanpur station in the early hours of Friday. The passengers filed a complaint with Moradabad government railway police station which was later referred to Shahjahanpur GRP unit. We have received complaints from three passengers and an FIR has been registered against the accused. So far, one suspect has been taken into custody by GRP and police are expecting to arrest the other accused soon.

The incident was reported around 1.20am from Garrah halt which is at a distance of one kilometer from Shahjahanpur railway station. The passengers filed a complaint with Moradabad government railway police station which was later referred to Shahjahanpur GRP unit. An FIR under IPC section 380 (theft) was registered against the robbers.On Friday, a team of officials led by GRP IG arrived in Shahjahanpur to investigate the case. So far, one suspect has been taken into custody by GRP and police are expecting to arrest the other accused soon. GRP is suspecting the involvement of contractual employees or illegal vendors in this case.SHO, GRP, Rasheshyam Rao said, “Four unidentified person entered the general coach of Lucknow-Chandigarh Express and decamped with wallets, mobile phones and other valuables. We have received complaints from three passengers and an FIR has been registered against the accused. We have arrested a contractual railway employee who is suspected to be involved in the robbery.”
