Bikers open fire at SSI during night patrol

Pilibhit: Three unidentified bikers opened fire at a senior sub-inspector (SSI) of Puranpur Kotwali police station on Tuesday when he was on a night patrol along with two constables. Based on a complaint, police have registered a case against unidentified persons under section section 307 of IPC. The victim was identified as Udai Veer Singh. According to sources, SSI Udai Veer Singh and constables Sachin Arya and Shubham were patrolling Assam Road crossing on Pilibhit-Basti national highway when they spotted three persons under suspicious circumstances. Hence, the policemen opened fire in self-defence following which the accused fled the spot.
