Three get life imprisonment for killing man in 2005

BAREILLY: A Badaun court has handed down life imprisonment to three for killing a man in 2005 over an enmity. Deceased Shivdutt is brothers-in-law of accused Umesh, while Vinod and Umesh are sons of Harishankar.”“During the course of trial, Harishankar died. The court also said Umesh would get additional three years of rigorous imprisonment,” said Babu. The court of additional district and sessions judge II Alka Srivastava on Friday sentenced Vinod, Umesh and Punit to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of the convicted men. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of them.

One of the convicts is a relative of the victim.An FIR in this connection was lodged against the four accused — Harishankar, Vinod Kumar , Umesh and Punit — in December 2005.In his complaint, Durga Shankar Sharma stated that in the morning of December 21, 2005, his sons Shivdutt and Pushkar were going somewhere when Harishankar, Vinod, Umesh and Punit waylaid them.They attacked his sons with spade and ‘tamancha’ (country-made pistol), said Sharma.On receiving information, the complainant along with others rushed to the spot, but the accused fled the scene after issuing threats. Though Shivdutt died on the spot, Pushkar was admitted to hospital with injuries.The incident took place under Razpura police station, which is now under Sambhal district Prem Babu, additional district government counsel, said, “The accused had also lodged a cross FIR against the deceased’s kin, but Shivdutt’s kin moved high court and got respite. Deceased Shivdutt is brothers-in-law of accused Umesh, while Vinod and Umesh are sons of Harishankar.”“During the course of trial, Harishankar died.
