Police in Pilibhit district book dead man in assault case

PILIBHIT: Pilibhit police has filed a case against a man who died five years ago, in the matter of a clash between two parties. After a group of men allegedly assaulted local businessman Amit Gupta, police lodged and FIR against Ved Prakash Saxena and his four relatives. "My husband Ved Prakash Saxena, who died five years ago, has been named in the FIR. "The SHO of Barkhera police station, RK Bharadwaj, said that two FIRs have been registered into the incident.

PILIBHIT: Pilibhit police has filed a case against a man who died five years ago, in the matter of a clash between two parties. The incident was reported from Barkhera town on Monday. After a group of men allegedly assaulted local businessman Amit Gupta, police lodged and FIR against Ved Prakash Saxena and his four relatives. "My husband Ved Prakash Saxena, who died five years ago, has been named in the FIR. This proves that the charges leveled by Gupta are false," said the deceased man's wife, Pratima Saxena.A cross FIR in the matter was later lodged by police on the complaint of the Saxena family. "Gupta has been trying to illegally construct a septic tank of his toilet on road. A case in this regard is pending in a local court. On Monday when we objected to the illegal construction, Gupta and his aides barged into our house and assaulted us," said Pratima Saxena.Asked why did he accuse a dead man of assaulting him, Amit Gupta said, "I was in a state of shock after being attacked. That is why I mistakenly named Ved Prakash Saxena instead of his brother Jai Prakash Saxena."The SHO of Barkhera police station, RK Bharadwaj, said that two FIRs have been registered into the incident. On the complaint of Gupta, a case has been registered against Ved Prakash Saxena and four others under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (committing mischief and thereby causing loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards)."On the complaint of the Saxena family, an FIR has been filed against Amit Gupta and four of his aides under IPC section 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 452 (house trespass), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt)," said the SHO.SP Balendu Bhushan Singh said, "At the time of lodging the FIR, police do not know whether the person named by the complainant is dead or alive. These facts are verified during the probe."
