Each district is given a target of 1,500 couples getting married under the scheme.Seeing the poor response of the intended beneficiaries under the scheme, the state government has revised the maximum annual family income of the applicants from Rs 46,000 to Rs 2 lakh.The DSWO, Ashok Dikshit, said they are now anticipating more applications as the annual family income of the intended beneficiaries has been increased.“According to the Hindu mythology, until four months period of Chaumasa is not completed, no auspicious work like marriage is performed. This year, Devothani Ekadashi is on November 19, the date from which the marriage season will start. However, till then we can organise mass marriages of those couple who are from other religions, if we receive applications,” he said.
