Four held for stealing peppermint bags worth Rs 14 lakh from truck

They will cut tarpaulin to fetch peppermint bags and then drop the bags on the ground, which will be collected by their accomplices following the truck on car.”SP said on September 27, Virendra Jain, a peppermint businessman, got a consignment of 7,650 peppermint bags worth Rs 1.5 crore loaded on a truck for Jaipur. When the truck arrived near Kamalpur village, the driver applied breaks to negotiate with a big pothole. “As soon as the truck driver slows down to negotiate with speed breakers and potholes, two or more accused will climb up on the truck from the rear side. Their accomplices loaded those bags in the car they had been chasing the truck.

Bareilly: Sambhal police on Thursday arrested four people for allegedly stealing 12 crystal peppermint bags from a moving truck near Kamalpur village on Gavan road under Rajpura police station jurisdiction.Police said they recovered the stolen peppermint bags — the price of which is estimated to be Rs 14 lakh — from the accused and also seized two country-made pistols from their possession.Divulging modus operandi of the accused, superintendent of police Yamuna Prasad said the accused used to wait for peppermint laden trucks near speed breakers and potholes. “As soon as the truck driver slows down to negotiate with speed breakers and potholes, two or more accused will climb up on the truck from the rear side. When the truck slowed down for the second time, all the seven accused de-boarded,” said SP.On September 29, an FIR was registered at Nakhasa police station.On Thursday, acting on a tip-off that some people were going to Amroha to sell peppermint, police took position on Amroha road and arrested the four accused — Satpal, Kanti, Deen Dyal and Paplesh, all from Partapur village — while three accused managed to flee the scene.
