Gang of diesel thieves busted in Bareilly, four arrested

BAREILLY: Police have arrested four persons for allegedly stealing diesel from loaded diesel-tanker vehicle on Nainital- Bareilly road on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, and seized 210 litres of diesel from their possession.Police said the vehicle driver and co-driver were also involved in the theft. The accused had stolen around 8,060 litres diesel within few months.”“We have lodged an FIR against the four accused under the Essential Commodities Act (ECA) and sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of IPC.

The accused were sent to jail on Thursday morning.Superintendent of police (rural) Satish Kumar said, “The four accused have been identified as Kripa Shankar 38, resident of Gola Had village under Kathgodam police station in Nainital, Veerpal, 34, resident of Akkha village under Visharatganj police station, Nizakat Khan, 35, and Sharafat khan, 58, both natives of Dade Ubhaychand village under Baheri police station. Shankar is driver and Veerpal is his co-driver, while two others are labourer.”SP said, “Around 11.30pm on Wednesday, acting on a tip-off that for past some days diesel thieves had been active near a roadside restaurant, a team of seven policemen, including Baheri SHO Krishna Murari, conducted raid and caught four accused red-handed. Shankar and Veerpal used to stop diesel-tanker truck at a roadside restaurant and his aides would steal diesel. We seized 210 litres diesel from the accused.
