Bareilly: DM urged for Shahdana dargah road maintenance

Given the bad shape of the road, road users are exposed to risk of accidents now and during Urs, the condition of the road is likely to deteriorate if not repaired. As the road also connects to Bareilly’s prominent Rajendra Nagar and DD Puram areas, heavy traffic movement is witnessed on the road on a daily basis. Atul Kumar, a shopkeeper in Shahdana said, “Commuters often lose balance while crossing the slushy roads and are always at a risk of falling. Surveys will be conducted in the area following which repairs will be undertaken.” Bareilly: The committee members of Shahdana Wali dargah and locals in the area have submitted a memorandum to District Magistrate VK Singh on Friday, seeking maintenance of the road, installation of streetlights, etc.Care taker of Shahdana Wali shrine, Abdul Wajid Khan and other members in their memorandum to DM, said that 437th Urs of Shahdana Wali Sarkar will be observed from December 8 to December 14 in the city and the stretch is damaged with potholes, lacks proper maintenance, and streetlights.

Bareilly: The committee members of Shahdana Wali dargah and locals in the area have submitted a memorandum to District Magistrate VK Singh on Friday, seeking maintenance of the road, installation of streetlights, etc.Care taker of Shahdana Wali shrine, Abdul Wajid Khan and other members in their memorandum to DM, said that 437th Urs of Shahdana Wali Sarkar will be observed from December 8 to December 14 in the city and the stretch is damaged with potholes, lacks proper maintenance, and streetlights. Members and locals have also requested the administration to restrict vehicles including four wheelers, public transport to ply on the road during the Urs period, to avoid congestion, as the road will be thronged by devotees from across the country.Talking to TOI, Abdul Wajid Khan, care taker of Shahdana Wali dargah said, “The road connecting Shyamatganj and Shahdana has been lying in bad shape with slush and mud all around and thus, commuting has become a risky affair especially in the evening. As the road also connects to Bareilly’s prominent Rajendra Nagar and DD Puram areas, heavy traffic movement is witnessed on the road on a daily basis. Non-functional streetlights, garbage menace have added to the woes of commuters giving them a harrowing time to commute in the area.”“Since Urs of Hazrat Shahdana Wali will be observed in December, the situation is expected to become worse as the road will be thronged by a large number of devotees. Given the bad shape of the road, road users are exposed to risk of accidents now and during Urs, the condition of the road is likely to deteriorate if not repaired. Therefore, to prevent any mishap during the period and avoid devotees from getting hurt, we have requested the administration to look into the matter and do the needful,” said Naeem Warsi, another committee member of shrine.Local shopkeepers and residents have also complained regarding the road’s poor condition alleging that the road reels under garbage menace. Atul Kumar, a shopkeeper in Shahdana said, “Commuters often lose balance while crossing the slushy roads and are always at a risk of falling. Besides, drains in the area remain choked and garbage remains piled up along the roadside which triggers foul smell in the area.”Municipal commissioner RK Shrivastava said, “We have not yet received any orders in this connection. Surveys will be conducted in the area following which repairs will be undertaken.”
