Six members of paper-solving gang held

The aspirants have also been identified from the seized entrance hall tickets of the exam. The original documents of the aspirants concerned are kept in the gang’s custody.

Moradabad: Special Task Force of UP Police on Sunday arrested six members of a gang of paper-solvers just as they were about to appear for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2018 in place of actual aspirants.The examination was held here under the jurisdiction of Majhola police station.All have been booked for cheating and forgery. A hunt is on to find an absconding member. Six mobile phones, two OMR sheets, three hall tickets of UPTET- 2018, two answer keys, one driving licence, Rs 25,000 and a four wheeler were seized from the accused.Speaking with TOI, STF officer Ajay Pal Singh said, “We had received a tip-off that members of a paper-solving gang were active in Moradabad district and preparing to send solvers to appear for UP TET 2018. On the basis of the information, raids were carried out and six members were arrested.”They all were booked under IPC section 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged documents ) and sections of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1998.Giving details, Singh said a gang member identified as Ankit arranged for paper solvers to take the place of TET aspirants. The aspirants have also been identified from the seized entrance hall tickets of the exam. Thereafter, documents were forged and solvers sent to take the exam in place of the aspirant.The gang members who were arrested were identified as Sachin, a resident of Kashiram Nagar, Moradabad, Jitender Kumar Saini of Lodhipur- Wijalpur, Majhola, Moradabad, Vipin Kumar of Dabuapur, Jalaun, Saurabh Asthana of of Avas Vikas, Kalyanpur, Kanpur , Mithlesh and Sippu alias Sardari, both from Bihar.
