PMO forwards divorced woman’s plaint for appropriate action

Bareilly: The 30-year-old woman, who with the help of a local NGO had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice against the triple talaq, they have received a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), saying “their letter has been forwarded for action as appropriate.”Soni Khan (30) was given triple talaq just five hours after the Supreme Court termed it unconstitutional.“I am hopeful that necessary action will be taken against my husband,” said Soni.Farhat Naqvi, president of Mera Haq Foundation, a local NGO, which is helping Soni, said, “Though the letter does not specify the kind of action will be taken into the matter, we are now hopeful that justice will be delivered.”Soni was married to Zahid Khan, a farmer in Salpura village under Shergarh police station, on June 5, 2016.
