After kidnapped siblings rescued, 12-year-old says she was raped

Pilibhit: A 12-year-old who was rescued by police from the clutches of her kidnappers along with her siblings told both court of first additional district and sessions judge as well as the child welfare committee here that her kidnapper had also raped her. The girl is yet to be sent for medical examination.The children — two sisters aged 12 and 10 years, respectively, and their six-year-old brother — were kidnapped on November 15. The trio was kidnapped from their house. The accused, however, succeeded in giving the police the slip, the IO said.The police officer said initially, an FIR against Kumar had been lodged under section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC. After the older girl disclosed before the court and CWC that she was raped, police added section 376 (rape) of IPC as well provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to the FIR.He said police succeeded in nabbing Kumar on Tuesday evening from the outskirts of Bisalpur city.

The main accused was arrested on Tuesday evening while his accomplice is on the run.The police have booked the accused for kidnap, rape and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after the girl’s statement was recorded by the court. The girl is yet to be sent for medical examination.The children — two sisters aged 12 and 10 years, respectively, and their six-year-old brother — were kidnapped on November 15. They were rescued on Monday and sent to the CWC for counselling before being handed over to their parents on Tuesday.According to chairperson of the CWC, Zeenat Jahan Begum, the statements of the rescued children were recorded in court on Monday after which they were brought to the CWC for counselling.Investigation officer (IO) Ved Pal Singh of Bisalpur Kotwali police station told TOI that the FIR in the matter had been lodged on November 15, the day when the children were kidnapped allegedly by a 22-year-old youth identified as Mohit Kumar, a resident of Durga Prasad locality in Bisalpur city.Singh said one of his friends helped Kumar to kidnap the children. The trio was kidnapped from their house. The accused won the older girl’s affection by promising to marry her in court.The children were rescued by police when Kumar was waiting for a vehicle at Eidgah crossing, outside the main city, at around 7 am on November 17 in order to take the children to some other destination. The accused, however, succeeded in giving the police the slip, the IO said.The police officer said initially, an FIR against Kumar had been lodged under section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC.
