Private low-cost airliner SpiceJet will re-launch flight operations between Puducherry and Bengaluru on Thursday.

The airliner, which started service to Hyderabad in August under the Centre’s Regional Connectivity Scheme Udan (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik), will open the route once again after it aborted operations in the sector four years ago.

On Thursday, a 78-seater Bombardier, SG 3419, will land here at 10. 30 a.m. The return flight, SG 3420, will take off from here at 10. 50 a.m and land in Bengaluru at 12. 10 p.m.

A source in the airliner said the minimum fare in the sector would be ?1,680 and the maximum around ?7,000. The airline staff said there had been a reasonably good response when the booking started a month ago.

For the inaugural service, the airliner had 80% booking for in-bound flights and and 45% out-bound flights. “And for the weekends, for both ways it’s almost 80%. We are very optimistic about attracting more customers after the launch,” he said.

The schedule had been planned in such a way as to give passengers connecting flights from Bengaluru to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. Passengers can also opt for other airlines to connect to other destinations, the staff said.

With one more flight operating from the airport, the Airports Authority of India had deployed an additional crash fire tender.

The new fire tender, Agni Vijay, positioned at the airport, came last week from Kozhikode in Kerala, a source in the airport said.

The flight display information system was getting ready and was likely to be dedicated next month, the official said. Stay updated with all the Bangalore Latest News headlines here. For more exclusive & live news updates from all around India, stay connected with NYOOOZ.
