Haris, surrendered to the Cubbon Park police on Monday. Soon after the parents of Vidvat L. lodged a complaint at the Cubbon Park Police Station, the accused, a Youth Congress leader, went absconding. Mohammed Nalapad Haris Mohammad Nalapad and his friends attacked Vidvat, son of a businessman in the city, allegedly for not “sitting properly” at the restaurant on the second floor of UB City with his friend. He was taken to Mallya Hospital with grievous injuries. The MLA told journalists that he advised his son to surrender as he had done a wrong thing. “My son spoke to his mother yesterday night. Later, I contacted him and asked him to surrender to the police. If he was at home, I would have taken him to the police myself,” he said. The Congress has suspended Nalapad's membership from the party for six years.
