Karaga procession on Saturday midnight

One of Bengaluru’s oldest community festivals ‘Karaga Shaktyotsava’, the procession of a decorated flower pyramid, is scheduled for the midnight of Saturday. Sri Dharmarayaswamy Maharathotsava (car procession) will begin at the Sri Dharmarayaswamy temple at 11.50 p.m. The karaga (floral pyramid) carried by a pujari will begin at the Sri Dharmarayaswamy temple on Saturday midnight. He will visit the Anjaneyaswamy temple, Alasurupet; Sri Rama temple and Prasanna Gangadhareshwara temple, Venugolalaswamy temple, Nagarthpet; Sri Rama Seva Mandir, 14th Cross, Cubbonpet; Anjaneya temple, Makkala Basavanannagudi; Channarayaswamy temple, Ganigarapet; Chamundeshwari temple and Eshwara temple on Avenue Road. The karaga will passes through Doddapet, Cottonpet, Balepete, Kumbarapet, Gollarapete, Cubbonpet and Sunkalpete before reaching the Sri Dharmarayaswamy temple at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Manu, will be carrying the karaga for the first time, guarded by Veera Kumaras. He will visit the Anjaneyaswamy temple, Alasurupet; Sri Rama temple and Prasanna Gangadhareshwara temple, Venugolalaswamy temple, Nagarthpet; Sri Rama Seva Mandir, 14th Cross, Cubbonpet; Anjaneya temple, Makkala Basavanannagudi; Channarayaswamy temple, Ganigarapet; Chamundeshwari temple and Eshwara temple on Avenue Road. Sri Dharmarayaswamy Maharathotsava (car procession) will begin at the Sri Dharmarayaswamy temple at 11.50 p.m. It will pass through Nagrathpet, Doddapet, Krishnarajendra Market Square and return to the main temple early morning on Sunday. The festival will continue on Sunday and Monday with Purana Pravachana and Gavushanthi ritual on Sunday, and conclude with the Vasanthotsava Dwajarohana ritual on Monday midnight.
