more-in A First Division Assistant in the Vidhana Soudha secretariat, who is also vice president of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association, has been accused of kidnapping a 32-year-old development officer in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department. An FIR registered by the police states that Ramesh G. Sanga allegedly kept Girisha K. Naik prisoner in his house in Palace Guttahalli for three days last week. He was allegedly tortured and forced to withdraw a complaint against Ramesh. Girisha, who is posted with the Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat, had recently filed the complaint accusing Ramesh of getting someone else to impersonate him and write the First Division clerical exam in 2008. He had submitted the complaint to the Chief Secretary and sought an inquiry. According to the police, this was the motive for the kidnap and torture. “Ramesh forced Girisha to withdraw the complaint,” said the police. Ramesh and his associate Dileep Rathod — who is also named in the FIR — abandoned Girisha Naik on Nrupatunga Road on Sunday. Girisha sought help at Victoria Hospital where a medico-legal case was registered. Later, he approached the Vidhana Soudha police to lodge a complaint. He told police that he had visited the RDPR office in MS Building for official work last Thursday. Ramesh and Dilip approached him and said they wanted to talk to him. They allegedly forced him into a car and took him prisoner. Narrating the ordeal, Girisha alleged: “They were angry with me for lodging the complaint. They threatened to harm my family members if I did not withdraw the complaint.” The police are yet to question the accused. “We have filed an FIR. Right now, we are busy with security duty and will probe the matter soon,” a senior police officer said.
