He convinced people that he was on good terms with bank officials who would help them get loans in return for a commission. “He duped as many as 70 people of lakhs of rupees,” police said. Punith would issue receipts for the money taken and give them the name of the bank that would be issuing the loan. “We have booked him for cheating, forgery and impersonation. He has been remanded in judicial custody,” police said.
