HC allows Rakshaka Sena to campaign in police colonies

Rakshana Sena was launched by V. Shashidhar, who is facing criminal cases for “provoking” policemen in the State to strike from work against the poor working conditions and facilities provided to them. The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday directed the State police chief and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to permit Rakshaka Sena, a registered political party, to carry out peaceful campaigns in police colonies for the Assembly elections. Justice Raghvendra S. Chauhan passed the interim order on the petition filed by the party, which alleged that the police authorities were not allowing their office-bearers and volunteers to canvas in police quarters and colonies.
