BMRCL floats tender for Vellara to Shivajinagar stretch

According to the tender document, the time frame for completing the work is three-and-a-half years.

The estimated cost of the project is ?1,130.61 crore. The tender has been called for design and construction of underground structures for a length of 2.755 km at Vellara, M.G. Road and Shivajinagar in the Reach-6 line in Phase 2 of the metro rail project. According to the tender document, the time frame for completing the work is three-and-a-half years. The decision to float tenders in two packages was made to make bidding more competitive. "The tenders for the second package will be floated soon. For both the packages, we will be employing five tunnel boring machines. We took the decision to split the tender into two packages after we had to cancel the tender for the underground stretch from Dairy Circle to Nagawara due to exorbitant quotes by bidders. Splitting it should make bidding more competitive," said Mahendra Jain, MD, BMRCL.
