80 guava trees chopped; dismissed constable arrested

The Nelamangala police arrested a dismissed police constable who, along with his associates, allegedly chopped down around 80 guava trees on his neighbouring farmland over a land dispute, on Sunday. The complaint also alleged that Nagaraja, who worked as a constable in Nelamangala police station, had been accused of murdering his wife. He was dismissed from service, convicted for 14 years and had recently come out of prison, he complainant alleged. Nagaraja filed a suit in court claiming that the property was sold by his family members without his consent and he staked claim to his share of around 20 guntas. In his complaint to the police, Nagaraju said that he had purchased 2 acres and 1 gunta from Nagaraja’s family in 2003.

Based on a complaint filed by the farm-owner, M. Nagaraju, the Nelamangala Rural police arrested the accused H. Nagaraja and his son Vinod , charging them under rioting, unlawful assembly and trespass, wrongful restrain and criminal intimidation. The police are on the lookout for the others who allegedly destroyed the crop and vandalised the farm at the behest of Nagaraja. In his complaint to the police, Nagaraju said that he had purchased 2 acres and 1 gunta from Nagaraja’s family in 2003. Nagaraja filed a suit in court claiming that the property was sold by his family members without his consent and he staked claim to his share of around 20 guntas.
