MYSURU: Two Kannada actors Darshan and veteran actor Devaraj were injured and hospitalised after the SUV in which they were travelling rammed into a streetlight pole on the outer ring road in north Mysuru on Monday.The incident took place at around 3.00am.City traffic police have started the investigation.“The accident happened around 3 am. Later, the injured rushed to the hospital and got themselves admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital,” said Police Commissioner A Subramanyeshwara Rao. As soon as we got to know about the accident, we visited the hospital and took up a case. The incident earlier wasn’t reported to police, the top cop disclosed.Darshan’s friend Antony Roy, who was at the wheel, too was injured in the accident. All the three are being treated at Columbia Asia Hospital in Mysuru. Sources confirmed that Darshan had suffered a fracture of radius bone and was operated upon immediately while Devaraj got a finger of his left hand injured. Roy is injured in his thigh bone. Devaraj’s son Prajwal Devaraj had escaped unhurt.Police sources claimed as it was raining heavily in Mysuru probably the driver of the car - Audi Q7 may have lost control over the vehicle near JSS Urban Haat, a crafts bazaar, on ORR, and hit the electricity pole. The SUV belonged to Darshan.According to the complaint, they were on their way back to Bengaluru when the incident happened. The actors had visited one of their friend's place in Hinkal and were returning. VV Puram traffic police have booked the driver Anthony Roy under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)– section 279 – Rash driving on a public way and sections 337& 338 endangering life or person safety of others and probing.Police have created security cover around the private hospital where the actors are being treated as their fans in big number have arrived there after hearing about the accident.
