HC asks Army engr to vet BBMP pothole claim

He submitted photographs and a status report on the completed work.On instructions from his officer and engineers, Sreenidhi told the court that in seven of 44 wards in Malleswaram, seven wards in Mahalakshmi Layout and four of the 11 wards in Yelahanka, all potholes had been filled up. Sreenidhi submitted that the BBMP had availed the services of IISc’s civil engineering professors GLS Shiva Kumar Babu and Rajiv B Mallick for the execution of the work.In the affidavit filed on the previous occasion, the BBMP had sought three days to fill the remaining 2,172 potholesin the city.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court on Monday appointed a top Army engineer and a judicial officer as court commissioners to verify the BBMP’s claims of having filled up 100% of potholes in some parts of the city.A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari requested the twomember commission — comprising Dinesh Agrawal, superintending engineer, CWE (Army), Bengaluru, Military Engineer Services; and MG Uma, member-secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority — to visit certain areas in north and west Bengaluru where the BBMP claimed to have filled all potholes and submit a report to the court on Tuesday.The court commissioners, accompanied by BBMP counsel V Sreenidhi, petitioners’ counsel SR Anuradha and BBMP officers, left the court around 4pm for Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka.
