K'taka Bank rolls out 1st digital branch in B'luru

MANGALURU: City based Karnataka Bank Ltd on Tuesday opened its first ever digital branch at Nettakallappa Circle in Bengaluru.The digital branch also happens to be the 821st branch of the bank that Ramamohan Rao Belle, its director inaugurated in the presence of Mahabaleshwara MS, MD and CEO. The bank is one of the earliest banks to adopt core banking solution, way back in 2000, a bank communique stated.“We are in the process of powering our banking channels with use of more digital technology with the twin objective of providing better customer experience as well as improving our own operational efficiency at many levels,” Belle said.Besides providing paperless banking experience, the bank is aiming at providing an instant real time response for chosen services by the consumer thereby reducing turnaround time significantly. To begin with some of the services covered through this branch include account opening, issue and activation of personalised debit card, internet banking, mobile banking, fund transfer within bank/NEFT/RTGS, cash transaction and so on.“I strongly believe that digi branch is in tune with the aspirations of our millennial customers and can assure all our stakeholders that the drive towards further digitalisation of our services will continue to be adequately backed by adhering to best security measures in the industry and by strengthening the fundamentals of the bank,” the Karnataka Bank chief said, adding the bank will work on rolling out such digital branches in the future as well.
