Remove child lock, get certificate on Sunday, cabbies told

“The endorsement certificate will help us identify cabs which are plying with child lock. BENGALURU: Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the city will function on Sunday as well so that cabbies can deactivate the child lock feature in their vehicles.Transport department officials said owners and drivers of taxis who are yet to remove child lock should visit the respective RTOs and obtain an endorsement certificate on Sunday. Action will be taken against them,” said an official.Automobile firms introduced the feature to ensure safety of kids sitting in rear seats . It will be mandatory during checks as well as during renewal of fitness certificates.So far, the department has deactivated child lock in 23,652 taxis across the state, including 22,007 in Bengaluru, following the high court order.Officials said they had also asked all app-based cab aggregators to follow the rules. However, it’s often misused.
