Mysuru nurse booked for posing as doctor

MYSURU: Nearly seven months after a nurse passed himself off as a doctor and prescribed medicines to patients, police have booked him for impersonation and cheating. The action came on a police complaint filed by the Mysuru taluk health officer, Dr Umesh.The case dates back to July 23, 2018, when Jameel Pasha went to a private hospital for treatment. The KPME nodal authority for Mysuru (registration) launched a probe and submitted a report to the directorate of health in Bengaluru. However, Dinesh, a nurse, posed as a doctor and examined Pasha. We carried out an investigation and prepared a report by collecting CCTV footage, pay slips,” he said.

Doctors were not available at the time. However, Dinesh, a nurse, posed as a doctor and examined Pasha. He also wrote a prescription. Again, on September 17, Shrinivasa visited the hospital and was “treated” by Dinesh, said VV Puram police.News of the impersonation soon spread and an investigation was launched against Dinesh and the hospital under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act. The KPME nodal authority for Mysuru (registration) launched a probe and submitted a report to the directorate of health in Bengaluru. The director ordered the Mysuru DHO to register a case against Dinesh.An FIR has been registered against Dinesh under sections 416 and 419 of IPC. DHO Dr B Basavaraj said, “He was a staff nurse. The hospital sacked him long ago. We carried out an investigation and prepared a report by collecting CCTV footage, pay slips,” he said.
