A hundred years ago, a streamliner from London transported a structure to India.It was then brought to the city, and assembled and into Cubbon Park's iconic bandstand, and installed in front of the Central Library on Ring Wood Circle.According to city historian Vemagal Somashekar, the idea of setting up a bandstand in the park was mooted in 1914 and an order for an ornamental iron structure with eight pillars was placed with Walter Macfarlane & Co in Glasgow .
