While Karibasamma was attacked on the thigh and admitted to Nittur hospital, Rangappa sustained injuries on his legs and cheeks and was treated at the Tumakuru district government hospital. Range Forest Officer Ramesh told The Hindu that, “Both are said to be out of danger. As the Thirtharampura forest is near the village, the bear could have entered the human habitat.” Night patrolling is being intensified in M.N. Kote village, he added.
