On Saturday night, the three drove the cars from Silk Board to Electronics City multiple times. Based on their investigation, a police officer said the trio stopped at a point and decided to race on the Hosur Road Elevated Expressway. They were driving at 150 kmph. “Since it was raining, they lost control on the wheels, resulting in the accident,” a senior police officer said. One of the boys died in the accident. The victim, who was driving a high-end car, lost control of the wheels, rammed into the parapet of the expressway and crashed into 10 barricades erected at the end of it. The police said his head got crushed and died on the spot. “The victim’s head had severed,” said an officer who visited the crash site. Bangalore Elevated Tollway Pvt. Ltd. (BETPL), which has two patrolling vehicles on the flyovers to keep a check on overspeeding, said they did not notice the three cars making a couple of rounds at high speeds on the expressway. However, a BETPL spokesperson said one of their patrolling vehicles reached the accident spot within 10 minutes to extend help to the police. The BETPL also sensitises the motorists and passers-by to alert and inform any such activities on the road, the spokesperson said.
