Asked to sit elsewhere, drunk youth kills man

Bhopal: A youth allegedly killed a 43-year-old man, who had gone to watch idol immersion procession at Bharat Talkies, after attacking him with a stone in Mangalwara locality on Friday morning. SHO Mangalwara Ajay Kumar Soni said that Amit Sirolia, a resident of Patel Nagar near Bharat Talkies, ran a fabrication business. He along with his wife, sister and niece had gone to watch the idol immersion procession near Bharat Talkies. The family were sitting on the footpath in front of a hotel and were watching the procession.SHO Soni said that around 3am, three youths started fighting among themselves and attacked each other with sticks and stones. One of them came near Amits family and sat beside his wife and sister. As the accused was drunk, Amit raised an objection and asked him to sit somewhere else. This led to a dispute between Amit and the accused. The accused thrashed Amit and hit him with a stone on the head when he collapsed on the road. The accused also attacked his sister with a stick when she intervened. The family members rushed Amit and his sister to a hospital where Amit died within a few minutes. Acting on information, Mangalwara police registered a case on charges of murder against unidentified accused on his sisters complaint.DCP (Zone-3) Riyaz Iqbal said that the incident was caught on CCTV cameras in the area. Police teams were formed to identify and nab the accused. The accused — Vinod Thakur, 26, a resident of Kainchi Chhola area — was arrested on Friday evening. Further investigations in the case were on. Brother-in-law of deceased, Rajkumar Chandel, said that when their family was watching procession, accused sat beside the women and started misbehaving with them.
