Provide factual and accurate information to readers: CEO

Media should provide factual and correct information related to elections to the readers. The Commissions effort is to provide all the latest election related information to the media. Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said this in the state level media workshop organized at the Academy of Administration. He said that media plays an important role in conducting free and fair elections. Rajan emphasized the ongoing efforts to promote widespread voter participation, stressing the crucial role of media co-operation in this endeavor. He urged media outlets to actively engage in voter awareness initiatives. Additionally, Rajan highlighted his consistent communication with the media to address queries and ensure accurate information dissemination to the public. Facility of postal ballot to journalists holding authorization letter The Chief Electoral Officer, Rajan, said that journalists possessing authorization letters from the Election Commission will have the option to vote via postal ballot. This provision enables journalists to cast their votes conveniently while engaged in polling day coverage. Furthermore, individuals aged above 85 years or those with over 40 percent disability will have the opportunity to vote from their homes upon request. Rajan also addressed journalists inquiries during the briefing. Journalists are the eyes and ears of the Commission Joint Election Officer Manoj Khatri said that journalists are the eyes and ears of the Commission. He said that through you the Commission gets information, which is sometimes not apparent to the administration. Khatri said that political advertisements should be issued only after the approval of the MCMC Committee. Advertisement should not be given as news. He also urged journalists to file nominations for the National Media Award. National Level Master Trainer Professor P.N. Sanesar and Dr. Y.P. Singh gave detailed information about various electoral processes including cVIGIL app, KYC, MCMC, paid news, media ethics and media coverage on the day of polling and counting. Rajan expressed deep condolence on the untimely demise of the son of senior Bhopal journalist Manoj Saini. He prayed to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this loss. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kumar Kaul, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Basant Kurre and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Pramod Shukla officers and journalists were present in the media workshop.
