Urging the people to get rid of the BJP Government at the Centre, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday exhorted upon the people to bring change in the country and also in their lives by electing the Congress-INDIA Government.   Priyanka, addressing a public rally in Chandigarh, countered the BJPs charges that Congress was anti-Hindu, saying that the philosophy of the Congress was based on the teachings of Gita which taught truth, love, harmony and non-violence. Among those present on the occasion include INDI Alliance candidate Manish Tewari, senior party leader and former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky, Mayor Kuldeep Kumar and others.   She pointed out how the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had only exploited religious sentiments of people coupled with fake promises like depositing Rs 15 lakhs in every Indians bank account, or providing two crore jobs every year and doubling the income of farmers.   Referring to Prime Minister Modis claims that he never talked about Hindu-Muslim things and if he had talked like that, he didnt deserve to be the Prime Minister, Priyanka said that he had finally admitted that he did not deserve to be the Prime Minister as all through these years and in every election he had only been talking about Hindu-Muslim things and never about the issues facing the country and its people.   Alleging that Modi had lowered the dignity of the office of the Prime Minister, she said that no Prime Minister, irrespective of which party he or she belonged to had talked the way Modi was talking. Despite being in opposition, leaders like me feel ashamed of what Modi is saying. After all he is everybodys Prime Minister, she said.   She said that Modi would always avoid talking about the pressing issues facing the country like unemployment, inflation and farmers plight. Unemployment was highest in 45 years with 70 crore jobless people in the country. Inflation has reached its peak making life difficult and farming is no more remunerative, she added.   Last Battle To Save Constitution, Democracy: Tewari The INDIA bloc candidate from Chandigarh Manish Tewari said that this election was going to be the last battle to save the Constitution and democracy in the country. These elections will decide whether we will be having more such elections or will we be having a permanent autocratic authoritarian dictatorship as is obvious from the intentions of the current dispensation at the Centre, he said, while addressing a public meeting in Shaheed Udham Singh Bhawan. Tewari warned against the BJPs designs to replace the Constitution and turn India into an autocratic, authoritarian dictatorship. He appealed to people to ensure that the BJP was defeated everywhere to save democracy.
