This was the eighth job fair in the series of Polytechnic job fairs conducted every year by the Rayat Polytechnic College. The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh, celebrated World Blood Donor Day by conducting two blood donation events; one outdoor blood donation camp at Bridge Market, Sector 17 and the second at the Blood Donation Centre of PGIMER, Chandigarh. tnsBlood donation camps heldChandigarh: To commemorate World Blood Donor's Day, blood donation camps were organised at different places on Wednesday. The visiting companies selected over 200 students of Rayat Polytechnic College which bagged the top honours in the recruitment process. The Thalassemic Children Welfare Association organised its 166th blood donation camp at Blood Bank, GMCH-32, Chandigarh.

BRIEFLY : EDUCATION Chandigarh: Registrar GS Chadha visited some of the hostels on the campus to check the situation of wiring; whether they were old, hanging loose or potentially hazardous. The Registrar has told wardens that if any wiring needs to be replaced, an estimate for the same be prepared and submitted. Orientation programme Chandigarh: The orientation programme for certificate course in radio programme production in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, under the National Urban Livelihood Mission will be held at the School of Communication Studies at 11 am on Thursday. RJ Meenakshi will address students about the evolution and career opportunities in the radio industry. 28 candidates have been selected for this course against 46 applications depending on eligibility and other norms desired for the course specified by the Municipal Corporation. TNSChandigarh: Mohali: Rayat Polytechnic College organised a mega job fair, 'Naukari Mela 2017', for diploma holders on the Ropar campus on Wednesday. The visiting companies selected over 200 students of Rayat Polytechnic College which bagged the top honours in the recruitment process. Overall, 147 got placements with an average package of Rs 2.40 lakh per annum. Over 30 companies from the region, including Deltron, Micromax, Bajaj Motors, Mitsuba Sical, Sentiss Pharma, Eicher tractors, participated in the fair. Over 400 students from various colleges of Punjab participated in the job fair where the companies shortlisted students through process of written test and interview. The fair was inaugurated by chairman of the group Gurvinder Singh Bahra. tns Blood donation camps held Chandigarh: To commemorate World Blood Donor's Day, blood donation camps were organised at different places on Wednesday. The Thalassemic Children Welfare Association organised its 166th blood donation camp at Blood Bank, GMCH-32, Chandigarh. In this camp, 315 units of blood were collected for the GMCH-32, Chandigarh. The Can and Will Foundation also held a camp at Rotary Blood Bank. Around 126 donated blood on the occasion.
