CHENNAI: Two brothers were allegedly kidnapped by an unidentified gang right in front of their house in Ambattur on Thursday morning and found near the Red Hills signal one and a half hours later. Police said the two boys K Vikas (11) and his younger brother K Jaideep (8), of Muthamizh Nagar, were studying class 6 and 3 respectively in a CBSE school in Surapet. On Thursday at 8.15 am, they were waiting for their school van when a a car carrying two men and a sticker ‘Jyothi Travels’ pulled up in front of their house. “The driver told the children their school van’s tyre was punctured and hence the car was sent to pick them up and the boys boarded the car. Minutes later, the original school van of Jyothi Travels reached the house and was honking for the kids. When the mother came out, she found the boys missing and alerted her husband who searched for them at school. Only then the parents realised their children were missing,” police said. Half an hour later, the boy’s father V Kiran, received a call demanding a ransom of `30 lakh and threatening the parents not to approach the police. The parents informed Ambattur police, who, in turn, alerted all check-posts. “Around 9.30 am, the car was approaching Vadakarai Signal in Red Hills. When the kidnappers spotted the police conducting a vehicle check, they dropped the children near the signal and fled,” police added.
