Avarampalayam Road is all set to open its rail over bridge in November

A Limited Use Subway for pedestrians and two wheelers will be constructed. The over bridge will drastically reduce traffic overcrowding on Sathyamangalam Road. The government decide to construct the bridge in 2010, 32cr were spent for land acquisition, the over bridge work and service road will be completed by October.

The Railway over bridge on Avarampalayam Road on which the state government has spent 21cr. including 32cr for land acquisition is all set to launch; the bridge is 560 meter long. The Avarampalayam Road connects the Sathyamangalam Road and the Avinashi Road through Avarampalayam and Nava India, presence of Avarampalayam road caused regular traffic jams on the stretch.

An official working for the over bridge project stated ‘’more than 90% of the work is complete. Lamp poles have to be fixed on the retaining wall of the bridge. Road laying work is underway on the bridge, the rail over bridge work and service road will be completed in October. The bridge will be ready for public use in November’’. He further added ‘’due to pandemic several construction laborers had left for their homes in March. The work was delayed due to manpower shortage’’.   

The official also added that a Limited use subway (LUS) for pedestrians, two wheelers and light motor vehicles across the railway line will be constructed. ‘’The Southern Railway will start LUS work at Avarampalayam railway track soon. Following the work, Nabard and rural roads wing will connect the LUS with service roads. The over bridge will drastically reduce traffic congestion on Sathyamangalam Road. Commuters can use the bridge to easily reach Avinashi Road’’.

The state highway department decided to construct the bridge on the road in 2010 and planned to acquire land to lay service roads. However a section of people moved to court and ordered a probe to stop the work. Government officials held talks with the landowner and paid 32cr for acquisition.

The Southern Railway constructed its portion above the track and handed it over to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Department (Nabard) and rural roads wings of the state highways in 2018. Following long acquisition flyover work started in January 2019.
