Coimbatore district recorded 534 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, pushing the active cases tally to 4,438, while 643 patients were discharged from treatment centres.

The cumulative death toll has reached 705 after two persons died of the disease on Tuesday. While a 45-year-old woman died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, an 80-year-old man succumbed to the disease at a private hospital, said the Health Department.

The fresh cases have taken the districts` Covid-19 tally over 65000-mark on Tuesday.
