Two peddlers held, over 2kg charas seized

DEHRADUN: Dehradun police on Saturday arrested two notorious peddlers from Sahaspur police station area and recovered over 2kg charas worth over Rs 3lakh from them.The accused peddlers, identified as Wahid Hasan and Damodar Singh, both residents of Sahaspur, were nabbed during regular checks near Rampur bridge, about 30km from the state capital.“Our team was carrying out checking below Rampur Bridge when two persons were stopped on suspicion. Both have been arrested for smuggling drugs,” said sub-inspector Naresh Singh Rathore, in-charge of Sahaspur police station.On interrogation, the accused said that they know each other since last few years and indulged in peddling to earn quick money.Both confessed that they used to procure charas from Himachal Pradesh, Tyuni and Bhagwanpur at low rates and sell it to students in Dehradun at high prices.“Both are habitual offenders and was arrested earlier too,” Rathore said.Both have them have been booked under section 8/20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
