Hundreds of rabbits throng Haldi town in US Nagar

The forest department officials said that this herd might be left stranded by a rabbit fancier. Most people had a feeling of surprise, mixed with fear.Forest department officials also rushed to the spot and have sent a report to higher officials. Locals and people passing through the green pastures adjoining Haldi town’s railway station were witness to a strange phenomenon, something which never happened in the area before.Hundreds of rabbits have thronged the area in Pantnagar . RUDRAPUR: For those accustomed to city life, it appeared to be a visual straight out of a Hollywood flick. Mostly white in colour, these rabbits are burrowing holes everywhere around Haldi railway station in Sainik Farms, about a kilometer away from the Terai range of forests.“The officials of the forest department have been directed to choose one bunny in random and conduct medical examination to check if they are carrying any disease like tuberculosis ,” said Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate, conservator of forests, western circle, Terai region.The fuzzy scourge is believed to be the either Mini Rex or the Holland Lop, which are domestic breeds found in India.
