Education department notice to 181 private schools for overpriced books

Officials said that the department may cancel no-objection certificates of schools if it wasn’t satisfied. DEHRADUN: The education department on Tuesday served notices to 181 private schools for not complying with the government as well as Uttarakhand high court’s orders and implementing help books whose prices were far higher than the NCERT books.Director general ( DG ) education Capt Aalok Shekhar Tiwari said, “The court had ordered in April that schools must implement books that are in range of the NCERT books, however, the schools did not comply.”“They were ordered to upload information on books being used on their website and also to furnish evidence that these were based on the NCERT and CBSE syllabus , but the schools did not comply with this order either,” Tiwari said.Apart from this, some of the schools increased their fees by more than 25% which is against the rules and also failed to appoint a member chosen by the education director to the school managing committee.
