Pant also said that patients can report misbehaviour of hospital staff to 104 helpline. The husband had alleged that though nurses were available none of them responded to his pleas for help. The women’s wing of the hospital has 130 beds where 152 patients were accommodated. Only eight doctors and 17 nurses are available round-the-clock.

Dehradun: A three-member committee including a doctor from AIIMS Rishikesh, former DG health Dr Archana Shrivastava and Dr Chitra Joshi of Government Doon Medical College and Hospital (GDMCH) was set up on Friday to probe the deaths of a woman and her newborn in the GDMCH premises.The woman, who had allegedly been waiting to get a bed for six days, had died in the hospital on Thursday soon after giving birth on the floor. The child also did not survive. The husband had alleged that though nurses were available none of them responded to his pleas for help.
