Dehradun: Four days after a 40-year-old businessman was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne gunmen in the heart of Dehradun over personal rivalry, city police on Sunday claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of one of the assailants. Dehradun police arrested a shooter, Amit Tomar, from Rishikesh on late Saturday night. Tomar is a native of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.The businessman, Aadesh Baliyan, was shot dead on Tuesday by the three men in Balawala area of Dehradun. Six bullets were fired at Baliyan on Gular Ghati Road, and three of them hit him.During police questioning, Tomar, a “dreaded criminal”, told police that his other two accomplices-- Sachin Tomar and Anuj-- opened fire at the trader. He also said that two more persons helped them in committing the crime.Police claimed that Baliyan’s killing was result of a money-related dispute.Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun, Nivedita Kukreti, said: “Baliyan had supplied some construction material to Sachin Tomar and his brother. After Sachin failed to pay the money, Baliyan took his tractor into his custody and asked him to pay the outstanding amount.”Police have also recovered the weapon of crime, a .315 bore country-made pistol, the SSP said.
