Nainital braces for civic elections, preparations on full swing

The officials also ordered the local intelligence unit to keep an eye on the alleged smuggling of alcohol, illegal money distribution and other items which could influence the elections.“We are conducting strict vigil in all six districts and ground reports are being analysed on day-to-day basis,” Puran Singh Rawat, inspector-general of police (IGP) of Kumaon division, said.Rawat said the police department has chalked out a plan for traffic management and has requested a few extra forces from the police headquarters.“Administration has already selected schools, colleges and other institutions where voting would be held,” Rawat said.Giving details about the measures taken to ensure smooth polling process, Rajiv Rautela, commissioner of Kumaon division said, “The voting will begin at 7am.
