In Haridwar mayoral candidates lsquooverwhelmed by responsersquo

Haridwar: BJP candidate for Haridwar mayor’s post Annu Kakkad who cast her vote at a school in Arya Nagar claimed to be overwhelmed with the response she received on polling day, especially from the Muslim voters in the Jwalapur locality. The people have shown faith in her and her experience.” She said that a united BJP was doing its best to ensure her victory in the civic body.“While the opposition tried to give me an outsider’s tag, the voters know the best. The love and respect that the people have given me throughout the campaigning process has made me confident.”She added, “While I don’t want to compare myself with my opponent but the Congress party continues to be a divided house. And that’s why the people have voted for me.”On the other hand, Congress candidate Anita Sharma who cast her vote at Raj Ghat in Kankhal was also confident of a win and lauded the “overwhelming response.” Sharma visited a number of polling booths on Sunday and she said that at every place, she was surrounded by voters, who were cheering for her.Meanwhile, Anita’s husband, Ashok Sharma, who has been a member of the Haridwar nagar nigam for two terms, complained that the voting process was deliberately slowed down at some booths to benefit the BJP.He said, “I am sure that around 80% of the votes have gone to Anita.
